Discover Card

Discover Card is a credit card issued by Discover Financial Services. Discover Financial Services operates as a credit card issuer and electronic payment services company primarily in the United States. Discover Card is issued over Discover’s signature card network.

The Discover Card was originally introduced by Sears in 1985, and was part of Dean Witter, and then Morgan Stanley, until 2007, when Discover Financial Services became an independent company. Novus, a major processing center, used to be partners with the company as well. The Novus logo has since been retired and now the Discover Network logo has replaced it.

Most cards with the Discover brand are issued by Discover Bank. Discover Card transactions are processed through the Discover Network payment network. The company announced that it would begin offering Discover Debit cards to banks as of February 2006, made possible by the Pulse payment system, which Discover acquired in 2005.

Discover Financial Services themselves also provide other consumer lending and deposit products. The Third-Party Payments segment includes PULSE EFT Association, an automated teller machine, debit, and electronic funds transfer network; and third-party payments business. The International Card segment provides credit cards principally under Goldfish brand name, and consumer lending products and services in the United Kingdom. The company was founded 1986 and is headquartered in Riverwoods, Illinois. To get more information about Discover Financial Services and Discover Card, jsut go to www.discoverfinancial.com.
